Gampaha Development Company sets up UK office

Gampaha Development Company (GDC) opened its first overseas branch in UK last month. The branch office will operate as the European marketing arm of GDC.

GDC specialises in township building, house construction, condominium building and property development.

"In the past 12 years, the GDC has transformed many isolated towns into populated new townships. Many of GDC's development schemes have become landmark constructions," a spokesman for the company said.

Attorney-at-law and Chairman and CEO of GDC, Lalitha Jayasuriya said that the GDC UK mission will be the investment gateway for Europeans to invest in Sri Lanka.

GDC UK would facilitate Sri Lankans living in the UK and Europe to acquire property with faster value appreciation. Sri Lanka has become a fast growing economy and offers many investment opportunities.

Chartered Marketeer and newly appointed Joint Business Development Director of GDC UK, Buddhi Weerasinghe said that there is an interest among Sri Lankans living in the UK and Europe to invest in Sri Lanka as the real estate sector is booming. "GDC would be the right and trustworthy business partner for Sri Lankans living in Europe and for foreigners who wish to embark on new joint venture projects in Sri Lanka", he said.

The GDC team is confident that they can support prospective UK and European Sri Lankans to get the maximum benefit from the present investment opportunities in Sri Lanka, he said.
