Anton to release new album

Anton Samanpriya, a popular baila singer who made his debut in the 1960s will release his latest album shortly.

Anton began his singing career 50 years ago by singing Baila songs at a singing contest conducted by the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation. He has sung many baila songs on various topics. Dolawen Aranyanna and Pethi Gilihi are some of his popular hits.

Anton has sung a number of songs with Anjalin for her Bangali Walalu cassette.

He has also sung several baila songs for a cassette , released by ' Spectra' musical group during the 1980s.

The songs for his latest album have been composed by Dr. Ajantha Ranasinghe, Chandradasa Fernando, George Robison de Silva, Walter Fernando, Cyril Jayawardane and the late Hemasiri Halpita.

Music is directed by Sarath de Alwis, Walter Fernando, Vernon Perera, Cyril Jayawardane and Ranjith Dias.

Silgath Kokku at Punchi Theatre

Ranjith de Alwis's Silgath Kokku will be staged at Namel-Malani Punchi Theatre, Borella today at 3.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.

The cast includes Saranga Dissasekara, Lochana Imashi, Malkanthi Jayasinghe, Manohari Wimalatunga, Sandhya Rambukkanage, Anura Srinath and Givantha Arthasad.


Colourful Breeze at Lionel Wendt

Colourful Breeze, a joint art exhibition by R. Kouwshigan and his students J. Akshaya, K. Avenash, S. Pratheiban, T. Myuran, G. Rumjhum and J. Senthamarai will take place at the Lionel Wendt Art Gallery today.


Balloth Ekka Be goes to Kadawatha

Ravindra Ariyarathne's Balloth ekka be at KCP Theatre, Kadawatha, today at 3.30 p.m. and 6.45 p.m.

The cast include Wijaya Nandasiri, Kumara Thirimadura, Roshan Pilapitiya, Gihan Fernando and Anusha Dissanayaka.


Madura Jawanika at Battaramulla

Dayananda Gunawardena's Madura Jawanika will be staged at the Janakala Kendraya, Battaramulla on January 12 at 3.30 p.m. and 6.45 p.m. The cast includes Jackson Anthony, Rodney Warnakula, Bandula Wijeweera, Madhani Malwatta, Rathnasheela Perera, Tharanga Kumari, Indika Jayasinghe, Wasantha Gunawardena, Buddhika Ranaweera and Jayanath Bandara.
