The Meteorology Department has forecast that the adverse weather conditions will continue for the next few days.

The atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka has intensified into a low pressure area and is near the South East of Sri Lanka. Under its influence, showers and winds will continue during the next few days in the country Deputy Meteorologist M. Sooriyakumar told the Sunday Observer.

He said that there will be occasional showers or thunder showers over most parts of the country. Over 100 millimetres of rainfall is expected in the North, East, Central, Uva and Southern provinces. Fishermen have been asked to refrain from going to sea, off the coast from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota. Fishermen in other areas too have been advised to be vigilant.
