Cancer Clinic on Jan 13
The Sri Lanka Cancer Society at Bullers Lane, Colombo 7, will hold
its next cancer-screening clinic on Sunday, January 13 from 8.30 a.m. to
11.30 a.m. for early detection of breast, cervical and oral cancers. All
services will be free.
Child appeals for help
Seven-year-old Mohamed Salman Khan of 30, Muturaga Mawatte, Mabola,
Wattala has been diagnosed with Paraumbilical hernia by Consultant
Surgeon, Dr. Sarath Kumara Kollure of the Nawaloka Hospitals.
The surgery is expected to cost around Rs. 200,000 and his parents
appeal to the generous public for contributions, which could be remitted
to A/C No. 8560025151 of Commercial Bank, Wattala or A/C No.
100954087269 of Sampath Bank, Nawam Mawatha branch.

Guitar Fest 2013 on Jan 19
The third festival of guitar music, Guitar Fest 2013 will be held at
Royal College Hall (Nava Ranga Hala), Colombo on January 19 from 6 p.m.
Leading Sri Lankan guitarists Anthony Surendra, Amaranath Ranathunga,
Derick Wickramanayake, Andrew Obeysekera, Jude Peiris, Misha Rodrigo,
Prasad Silva, Mohamed Iqbal and foreign artists will perform at the
concert which is free.
Kithusara theology course
The Kithusara group, a movement committed to social justice has
launched a theology course for those seeking to widen their knowledge on
scripture.
The six-month course commencing this week comprises an indepth study
on the theology of the book of Genesis, Exodus, the Prophets, Jesus
Christ and the Kingdom of God, history of churches, Marian theology, the
basis for liberation theology, new Christian literature and
environmental theology.
Classes will be conducted at Maris Stella College, Negombo and
Piyavara Library Centre, Ridee Mawatha, Kalamulla, Kalutara from 8.00
a.m. to 1.00 p.m. on two Saturdays of each month.
Certificates will be presented to those who complete the course.
