Record number sit CA Sri Lanka examinations
History was made at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri
Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) recently when the highest number of students ever,
sat for its Certificate in Accounting and Business (CAB) examinations.
Almost 20,000 sat the Certificate in Accounting and Business level
one and level two exams held across the country covering the Southern,
Western, Central, Northern, Eastern, Sabaragamuwa and North Central
Provinces.
"With a student base of over 41,000 following the institute's
globally recognised Chartered Accountancy program, CA Sri Lanka is one
of the largest tertiary education providers in the country apart from
being a leading professional organisation providing leadership and
insight to the accounting and finance profession in Sri Lanka," a
spokesman for the institute said.
CA Sri Lanka President, Sujeewa Rajapakse said that the institute has
continued to grow from strength to strength making massive inroads in
the tertiary education sector. "Our qualification is globally recognised
and as a testament to this we have approximately 30 percent of our 4,300
members, serving in various capacities outside Sri Lanka."
Rajapakse said that every year, the institute strives to provide
better opportunities for its members and students and with this
objective the institute has signed various agreements with foreign
accounting bodies and local universities thereby further enhancing the
standards of CA Sri Lanka.
"CA Sri Lanka enjoys an impressive standing in the accounting world
and our qualification is our identity. An impressive percentage of our
members play an leading role in the corporate world at top managerial
level and, therefore, due to our standing, we are witnessing an
increased interest in our CA qualification and this new record is very
encouraging in our capacity as a leading tertiary education provider in
the country," he said.
Chief Executive Officer of CA Sri Lanka, Aruna Alwis said that the
institute has also launched various exit mechanisms for students who are
part-qualified. "Among our fresh initiatives is the Certified Business
Accountants (CBA) recognition which is offered to students who are
part-qualified in CA."
"Students who pass the CAB II level are eligible to become Certified
Business Accountants (CBA). The CBA designation is also recognised by
both the public and private sectors," he said.
Alwis said that CA Sri Lanka conducts examinations in the strictest
of conditions on par with global standards. |
