Skype classes on rainforests

A group of teachers from Rambuka eVillage School in the Southern Province has leveraged Skype in virtual classroom exchange programs, enabling students from urban and city schools to experience a tropical rain forest. Located on the edge of a rainforest, the school often brings its students for field trips into the rainforest, allowing them to learn and experience nature beyond the classroom.

The teachers at the school initiated a program called 'Visit a RainForest in Sri Lanka' using Skype as a platform to share their unique learning experience with students from cities and urban areas.

The 'Visit a RainForest in Sri Lanka' Skype lesson was warmly welcomed by enthusiastic teachers from around the world - more than 70 teachers have expressed their interest to participate since the interactive lessons went live in October 2012. -FutureGov
