Womens cricket catches interest in the South

Sri Lanka Cricket's endeavour of promoting women's cricket has borne
fruit. Girls in the Southern Province mainly from the districts of Galle
and Matara have taken to the game. The Southern Province was represented
in the women's under 23 Inter-Provincial cricket tournament organised by
Sri Lanka Cricket held recently.
The Southern Province team was led by Ganesha Wasana of Seenigma CC
and the Vice Captain was Kaumudi de Silva of Matara SC (Both players
represent the Sri Lanka Air Force womens cricket team) while Malsha
Shehani, N.H. Manuja, Sanjeewani Nilangika, Sakunthala de Silva, Lihini
Apsara, Sujeewa Dilhani, Piumi Wathsala, Aruni Peshala, Binari Sasikala,
Chamari Priyangani, Chathuri Nanayakkara and Nirmala Madushani made up
the team.
Priyani Prasangika was the manageress while SLC's Southern Province
Coach Niroshan Bandarathilaka assisted by SLC's Matara District Coach
Prasanna Galappaththi were in charge of coaching the girls.
