By Mohamed Naalir
Entrepreneur of the Year 2013 competition organised by the FCCISL is
a unique event as it includes regional small and medium scale industries
parallel to its main agenda and is a gateway for industries to expand,
said Additional Secretary of Industries and Commerce Ministry, Asitha
Seneviratne, at the launch of Entrepreneurs of 2013, the 18th in the
series. He said that a few years ago he had been a member of panel of
judges at the Entrepreneurs of the Year competition.
"The Entrepreneur of the Year competition carries a lot of weight
because more than confining itself to an industry or a businessman it
really measures the personalty and courage of the person concerned," he
said.
Secretary of Ministry of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise
Development, Sivagnanasoothy said that selecting the best entrepreneur
and awarding them motivates them.
"The process of recognising the leadership, the personality and
various other competencies is important from a entrepreneur's point of
view. Holding Entrepreneur of the Year competitions and recognising
successful contestants will motivate and encourage upcoming
entrepreneurs," he said.
"Today there are very few women entrepreneurs. This program will help
the empowerment of women. The ministry will extend its support to make
this event a success," Sivagnanasoothy said. |
