Negombo, a MICE tourism hub soon
Negombo will soon be a hub for MICE (Meeting
Incentive Conference and Exhibition) tourism in Sri Lanka, said Sri
Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO) committee
member and Sancharaka Udawa, Organising Committee Chairman, Imran
Hassan. He said that Negombo will be a hub for MICE tourism due to
the varied pricing and accommodation opportunities offered by hotels
in the area.

Egg prices sour due to scarcity
Egg prices are increasing continuously due to
supply constraints and if the trend continued, consumers may not be
able to afford to buy eggs, the All Island Poultry Association
(AIPA) warned. Chairman of the Association, Dr. D.D. Wanasinghe said
that there were several factors that constrain egg supply. Producers
have formed groups at regional level and they control supply and
manipulate the market.

SMEs in the North and the East need stable market
The Sri Lanka Chamber of Small and Medium
Industries (SLCSMI) which supports the development of small and
medium sector entrepreneurs has no associate branch to develop SMEs
in the North and the East. SLCSMI President Aloy Jayawardene said
that the chamber has no immediate plans to set up an associate
branch to support small and medium scale entrepreneurs in the North
and the East.
