Bilateral pacts with Thailand strengthened Lankaís ties

Leader of the House and Irrigation and Water Management Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva told Parliament on Friday that the bilateral agreements signed by President Mahinda Rajapaksa with Thailandís Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on his reciprocal visit to Thailand in 2012 had resulted in greater cooperation in the agriculture, fisheries and education sectors.

Astrologers no, no, on Ranilís political future

Many politicians concentrated on the astrological changes that took place last Friday. Prominent astrologers had to work overtime to cater to the unprecedented demand from leading politicians, mainly from the Opposition. Some UNP politicians thought that they could get undue mileage and pose some kind of threat to the Government, at least using the movement of the planets.

Amidst a barrage of criticism he eventually emerged victorious at the debate reducing his rivals into shreds. Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne gave a new lease of life to his Ministry in getting it to play a bigger role in the community life. The Minister in an interview with the Sunday Observer said at present either the UNP or any other party is not in a position to win any future election.
