Mahinda Chinthana translated into Chinese
Parliamentarian A.H.M. Azwer said that the Mahinda Chinthana is the
first policy document in Sri Lanka that was translated into a foreign
language. The Chinese translation of Mahinda Chinthana was launched at a
function graced by Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao at the Great Hall
of China.
Azwer said the Sri Lanka envoy in China Ranjith Uyangoda has taken
great efforts to translate the Mahinda Chinthana into Chinese with the
help of a Chinese professor.
He said the Sri Lankan envoy in China presented the first copy to
Chinese President Xi Jinping. The Parliamentarian said that the Chinese
President expressed his happiness over the achievements in Sri Lanka
credited to the Mahinda Chinthana when President Rajapaksa met the
Chinese President during his recent official visit to China.
Over a hundred journalists who were present at a press conference
requested for copies of the Mahinda Chinthana translation. External
Affairs Minister Prof G.L. Peiris directed the Sri Lanka envoy in China
Uyangoda to fulfill their request.
