St. Bridget’s take ‘B’ Division Basketball Title beating Hillwood,
Kandy 48-25
St. Bridget’s Convent beat Hillwood College, Kandy by 48 points to 25
in their postponed Under-17 Basketball ‘B’ Division final.

The Colombo girls displayed much skills with their accurate shooting
and their defence too was tight and did not permit the Kandy girls to go
on the offensive. At half-time, the Bridgeteens had a comfortable 28-9
lead and they never let the Kandy girls to catch-up.The top scorers for
St. Bridget’s were Disni Gunawardena (20 points) and Raneesha Silva with
12 points. For Hillwood, Kaveena Rajapakse top scored with 16 points.
The winning team was coached by Ramesh Fernando and Roshan
Randima.The following special awards were made:
Best Offensive Player: Kaveena Rajapakse (Hillwood College)
Best Defensive Player: Dishni Gunawardene (St. Bridget’s Convent)
Best Valuable Player: Raneesha de Silva (St. Bridget’s Convent)
The consolation was final played between Holy Family Convent,
Dehiwela and Presbyterian School, Dehiwela and Presbyterian School had a
comfortable win over Holy Family Convent, Dehiwela by 59 points to 11.
The top scorer for the winning team in that match was Nipuni Nawodya
with 27 points.
