Veteran writer Samanmalie Padmakumara has kept another giant step
forward to strengthen ethnic harmony by contributing two books in
English and Tamil.
Following her first Sinhala edition of the same, she recently
presented the English and Tamil version of her books on the national
flag to President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees.
Titled 'We love our flag', the main focus in the books is the need to
unite under the Lion Flag, irrespective of our ethnic and religious
affiliations.

"We must take pride of our national flag. On every important
occasion, it must be held high, with great honour, care and mostly with
love," says the author in her introduction.
"It is an important duty of parents and adults alike to set an
example for the young," says Samanmalie, adding that "children learn
good habits by watching the conduct of grownups". She has published many
books - Hapana Hava volume of seven books, Mahadana Mithaniya for
children and Kathadara Kiyademu, Kavi gee gayana karamu, Sasobana
anganavo and Sandata kiyami for adults.
