sources assured that a sufficient supply of all food commodities
will be available during the festive season. Officials said that the
ministry continuously carries out raids to reduce frauds and market
malpractices.

INOAC mulls automotive component manufacture in Lanka
A top Japanese conglomerate is relocating
selected foam operations to Sri Lanka from China. Due to this new
operation, Sri Lanka is now saving millions of rupees in forex that
is otherwise sacrificed on import of soft foam which is used in the
apparel industry. The tier one global supplier said it was ready to
set up a world-class automotive component production facility in Sri
Lanka, with latest Japanese technology.

City hotels geared for festive season
All city hotels are geared to celebrate the
festive season with a range of entertainment options for holiday
makers, said City Hotels Association, President M. Shanthikumar. He
said that the occupancy rate in most hotels is over 80 percent which
is an increase from last year's occupancy rate of around 75 percent.

Banking sector has potential to achieve Rs 10t asset base

Indo-Lanka FTA: India to facilitate more imports from Lanka
India is committed to remove bottlenecks in the
Indo-Lanka Free Trade Agreement (FTA), High Commissioner of India
Y.K. Sinha, told a presentation on bilateral trade between the two
countries organised by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka
(NCCSL) in Colombo.
