Thailand to increase trade with Lanka
Thailand hopes to increase trade between the two countries, the new
Thailan Ambassador to Sri Lanka Nopporn Adchariyavanich told the
President and the Members of the Sri Lanka-Thailand Business Council
when they paid a courtesy call on the Ambassador at his official
residence in Colombo recently.
Ambassador Adchariyavanich said, "Since the setting up of diplomatic
relations in 1955, Thailand and Sri Lanka have enjoyed close and cordial
ties. Thailand and Sri Lanka share many things in common. We are
Buddhist countries. We have an open and tolerant society and
kind-hearted and smiling people. Sri Lanka has changed much during the
past decade."
"We find immense opportunities for Thailand and Sri Lanka to develop
closer cooperation, especially in trade and investment. In 2012, the
two-way trade volume between two countries was US$ 545.30 million. The
Royal Thai Government has always attached great importance to bilateral
relations with Sri Lanka," he said. |
