Pakistan's Chief of Naval Staff in Sri Lanka

The Chief of Naval Staff of Pakistan, Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila
arrived in Colombo last Thursday on a three-day visit.
He was received by Chief of Staff of the Sri Lankan Navy Rear Admiral
S.A.M.J. Perera along with the High Commissioner of Pakistan, Major
General (Retd.) Qasim Qureshi and Defence Advisor Pakistan, Colonel
Sheharyar Parvez Butt.
During his visit, Admiral Sandila was to launch the Pakistan Navy War
College Alumni Chapter in Sri Lanka for officers of the Sri Lanka Navy
who have undergone training at the Pakistan Navy War College.
Admiral Sandila was commissioned in the Operations Branch of the
Pakistan Navy in 1975. He is a highly qualified naval officer who,
during his distinguished career, has held challenging command and staff
appointments, including the command of a guided missile Destroyer PNS
BADR and 25th Destroyer Squadron.
He had served as Director General Maritime Security Agency and
Commander Logistics. He has also commanded Pakistan's Navy fleet during
the period from October 2008 to November 2009.
Before being appointed as the Chief of the Naval Staff, the Admiral
served as Chief of Staff at the Naval Headquarters Islamabad.
He is a graduate of the Naval Command and Staff College of Indonesia
and Armed Forces War College at the National Defence University.
