Janashakthi Insurance clinches merit award at NBQSA 2013

Janashakthi Insurance PLC won a Merit award in the In House Applications category at the National Best Quality ICT Awards (NBQSA) at the Kingsbury Hotel recently. The company received the award for the Janashakthi Document Management System (jDMS) which was developed in-house by their software development team. Assistant General Manager, IT, Thilak Vithanage said it was a night of firsts for the entire insurance sector.

"This was the first time Janashakthi Insurance made an entry for the NBQSA ceremony. We are the only insurance company to win an award in this sector. This is truly the best acknowledgment of the hard work put in by the software development team to ensure that we had an effective document managing system," he said.

The NBQSA is an annual event organised by the BCS, Chartered Institute for IT Sri Lanka, and works to benchmark cutting-edge local ICT products. The Awards recognises people or organisations which have contributed towards developing the ICT sector in Sri Lanka, to create a platform for international recognition of locally developed ICT products and to improve overall quality while setting benchmarks for Sri Lankan ICT products and services, enabling them to be competitive internationally.
