National Drug Policy to be implemented in early 2014
Health sources told the Sunday Observer
yesterday that the long- awaited National Medicinal Drug Policy
(NMDP) will be implemented in early 2014. “The final translation of
the draft is underway and it will be ready to be presented in
Parliament when it is completed. There will be no further delays”,
Health Ministry spokesman W.A.D Wanninayake told the Sunday

fishermen:
Effort redoubled to curb poaching
Following repeated protests and mounting
complaints from fishermen in the North over the decade-long poaching
by Indian fishermen and the continued detention in India of a large
number of Sri Lankan fishermen, the Fisheries Ministry has redoubled
its effort to sort out the issue through dialogue with the Indian
Union Government and the Tamil Nadu State government.
