Trilateral Tabletop Exercise 2013 in Trinco
Representatives from Indian and Maldivian Coast Guard along with
their Sri Lankan counterparts are attending the Trilateral Tabletop
Exercise (TTEX) 2013, currently in progress in Trincomalee. The TTEX
began on Wednesday at the Naval complex in the eastern port city.
Director General of Sri Lanka Coast Guard, Rear Admiral Ravindra
Wijegunaratne, participating as the chief guest, delivered the keynote
address.
The TTEX is an outcome of the Second NS-level meeting on trilateral
cooperation for security between the three neighbouring countries that
was held in Colombo in July this year. In the road map of future
co-operation, strengthening the biennial trilateral exercise Dosthi by
conducting tabletop exercise and seminars on maritime issues every other
year was charted and this year, Sri Lanka is hosting the event.
Meanwhile, two Indian Coast Guard ships arrived in the island to take
part in the exercise. The ships, ICGS Vishwast and ICGS Rajkamal, were
accorded a naval welcome upon their arrival at the Trincomalee port.
Sri Lanka Army and Air Force officers are also participating in the
exercise as observers.
