Embilipitiya OIC Crimes residence fired at

An unidentified gunman had fired at the official residence of the OIC Crimes of the Embilipitiya police on Friday night. No casualties were reported. At the time of the incident Inspector W.D.S. Wickramasingha and his family with two children were sleeping when somebody had opened fire at his house.

The shots were reportedly fired at the part of the house where the OIC's son was sleeping damaging the wall and a window pane. Although there were no eyewitness the residents had heard the noise of a speeding double cab leaving the scene soon after the incident.

Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana told the Sunday Observer that the motive is yet to be ascertained and no arrests had been made at the time this edition went to press.

A special police team conducting investigations on the instructions of Embilipitiya police Headquarters Inspector found four bullet holes on the wall riddled by a T-56 assault rifle.
