A modern house worth over ten million
rupees was donated to the Health Department employee Lalitha
Padmini of Aralaganwila who was adjudged the best family
health worker in the Asia Pacific region in 2010. The
building was constructed under the supervision of National
Housing Development Authority while the land was donated by
the Mahaweli Authority. Here Health Minister Mai-thripala
Sirisena and Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and
Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa open the new
building. Land and Lands Development Deputy Minister
Siri-pala Gamlath. Social Services Deputy Minister
Chandrasiri Soori-yaarachchi, Polonnaruwa district MP,
Roshan Perera and several government officials participated.
The Vidyabinandana Prashadini awards
ceremony organised by the Weerasinghe Educational,
Environmental and Social Development Foundation was held
recently at the Pitabeddara Maha Vidyalaya Auditorium
Akuressa. Here Suthern Province Governor Dr. Kumari
Balasuriya presents an award to a school principal. Former

The Sabaragamuwa Provincial Chapter of
the Institution of Engineers of Sri Lanka has installed cost
effective, environmen-tal-friendly LED illumination system
on the Udamaluwa, the Sri Pada peak. The initiative was by
the Viharadhipathi of Sri Pada. Ven. Bengamuwe Dhammadinna
Thera and executed by D.G.M. Eng.K.D.A. Munasinghe area
