Senanayake's match-bag of 10 wickets steers SSC to a resounding win

Sachithra Senanayake, who bagged two five wickets hauls for a match-bag of 10, wickets guided Sinhalese Sports Club to an eight-wicket victory against Sri Lanka Ports Authority in a Group 'A' Premier League match, which ended at SSC grounds on Saturday.

Senanayake, who had an exceptional economical rate, took five wickets for 25 runs in 10 overs with three maiden overs in the Ports Authority's first innings and went onto scalp five wickets for 28 runs in 14.4 overs with seven maiden overs. The right arm spinner showed his brilliant frugal bowling performances as Ports Authority were collapsed to 144. SSC reached

the 89-run target losing two wickets.

SL Ports Authority: 128 all out in 36.4 overs (Tyronn Gamage 27, Yohan de Silva 19, Sachithra Senanayake 5-25, Chathupama Gunasinghe 3-45)

Randiv - a superb all-round display

Bloomfield's Suraj Ranjiv turned in a superb all-round performances against Tamil Union at Bloomfield yesterday despite Tamil Union are leading by 170 runs with four wickets in hand by second day's stump.

After Tamil Union made 235 in their first innings on day one, home team totalled 242 runs as Suraj Randiv hit an unbeaten 72 off 82 while opener Primosh Perera chipped in with 65 runs. Tamil Union leg spinner Jeevan Mendis scalped five wickets.

Indrasiri - a match bag of 10 wickets

Chilaw Marians are in the driving seat as they need 164 runs with eight wickets in hand in their match against Panadura Sports Club played at Panadura Esplanade for the second day yesterday.

Upul Indrasiri, who captured five wickets in the first innings, took his second five wicket haul in the match (5-83) as Panadura SC were dismissed pathetically for 98 runs in the second innings, setting Chilaw to 175 run target. Marians were at 11-2 at stumps.

Kusal's hits a blazing century

With Kusal Perera's blazing century, Colts made a bold reply making 352-8 in reply for NCC's 332 in their Premier League match played at NCC grounds yesterday.

Perera, who batted at number three, blasted 117 from 113 balls sharing a 135-run stand for the third wicket with Milinda Siriwardene (77). The hard hitting left hander tonked four sixes and struck 10 fours with a 103.53 strike rate.

Asela's 200 helps Badureliya post 494

Asela Gunaratne smashed a cracking 200 runs in just 170 balls against Badureliya Sports Club as Sri Lanka Army posted a massive 494 runs in their first innings on the second day of the Premier League Group 'B' game played at Surrey Village, Maggona on Saturday.

Former Rahula College, Katugastota right hander struck 22 boundaries and tonked five sixes. Left arm fast bowler Thilan Thusara picked up three wickets for Badurliya. Badureliya SC, who were bowled out for 179 in their first innings, were at 92 for three at close.

Badureliya SC: 179 all out in 53.1 overs (Janishka Premasinghe 34, Prasad Dias 27, Saman Jayantha 25, Greg Smith 25, Chanaka Withanage 24, Seekkuge Prasanna 3-70, Shalika Karunanayake 2-22) and 92-3 in 22.5 overs (Michael Richardson 34 n.o, Chanaka Withanage 33)

Jayasuriya's century props up Moors

Moors' skipper Shehan Jayasuriya scored a glorious hundred as Moors made 264-6 against CCC at the end of second day at CCC grounds yesterday.

When Moors were at 2-44, Jayasuriya and Harsha Cooray (89) ,forged an 163-run partnership for the third wicket and propped up the side for a respectable total on the board before the left hander departed hitting 14 fours during 178-ball knock.

CCC: 302 all out in 97.4 overs (Lasith Abeyratne 71, Indika de Saram 57, Hasantha Fernando 49, Chathuranga Kumara 35, Malinda Pushpakumara 5-121, Dilhara Lokuhettige 4-34)
