workshop.
The workshop focused on the challenges related to the transfer of
technology, training programs and financing of large commercial scale
aquaculture projects in Sri Lanka.
Deputy Secretary General, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Ms Alikie
Perera said that the workshops will enhance the knowledge of those
engaged in the local aquaculture industry.
The panel consisted of aquaculture specialists Asbjørn Drengstig,
Bjørn Aspøy and Inge Reithaug of Norway.
The welcome address was delivered by- Senior Advisor, Royal Norwegian
Embassy, Vijayanathan.
Asbjørn Drengstig said the model developed by them, could be
introduced to commercial scale aquaculture industries.
He said that workshops are conducted to conceptualise the model.
Sri Lanka is the first nation invited to use this strategic recipe
for aquaculture development. For the model to be successful, active
participation of the local private and public sectors is needed. |
