Diploma course in drama and acting

A diploma course in drama and theatre will be conducted by the Lanka Children’s and Youth Theatre Foundation (LCYTF) shortly. The program will cover acting, script writing, directing, movement and vocal training.

Over 30 years, the LCYTF has been training talented youth who are now engaged in the theatre and film industry in Sri Lanka.

LCYTF was set up by Somalatha Subasinghe in 1981 and later it was incorporated by an Act of Parliament. The course is conducted by Kaushalya Fernando, Prasanna Mahagamage and Namal Jayasinghe who are experts in acting, directing and script writing.

CD with Worship Songs launched

Lokaye Alokayak, a CD, containing worship songs composed by P.S. Shalitha Fernando was launched at the Public Library Auditorium, Colombo recently. The event was organised by the Christ Gospel Church, Colombo.


Natya Kala Mandhir artistes present dance recitals in India

Natya Kala Mandhir artistes presented dance recitals at temples in India during the Maha Sivarathri Natyanjali dance festival held recently. They performed at temples such as Chithambaram, Tanjoor, Nagapatnam, Thirunallar, Mayilaadudurai and Bandanai Nallur Shivan temples. Kalasuri Smt. Vasugy Jegatheeswaran choreographed the dance recitals.


Celebrating women

Goethe Institut has dedicated its monthly film forum under the theme Celebrating Women curated by Anomaa Rajakaruna to mark International Women’s Day. Celebrating Women film forum will be held at the Goethe Institut auditorium, Colombo on March 22 from 10 am to 7 pm.


Have a Nice Day by Kaushalya Pathirana

It consists of seven short films by Sri Lankan young filmmakers based on gender-based issues. As the third session of the program the award winning film Him Her After (Ini Avan) by Asoka Handagama will be screened at the venue.
