Prelates to decide on political involvements
Venerable General Secretaries of all chapters, Malwatta, Asgiriya,
Amarapura, Siyam, have decided to discuss the controversial issues on
the involvement of some bhikkhus in politics, public rallies,
demonstrations and anti-government work.
These erudite bhikkhus gathered to the Ministry of Buddhasasana and
Religious Affairs recently and came to the conclusion that an extensive
discussion on the aforesaid issues has to be held as early as possible,
said Venerable K. Dhammadassi Nayaka Thera, the Chief Advisor of Sunday
Dhamma Schools of the Kurunegala District at a meeting of heads of
Dhamma Schools and chief incumbents of Buddhist temples of the
Kurunegala District held in Bingiriya Kurunegala recently.
