NWPC declares Sunday as Dhamma School Day

Sunday has been declared 'Dhamma School Day' in the NWP with immediate effect by the NWP-PC Chief Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara. Students from grade one to grade eleven in schools should attend Sunday Dhamma Schools. All private tuition classes in Kurunegala and Puttalam districts of the NWP have to be closed till 1.30 p.m. every Sunday. Dayasiri Jayasekera told Sunday Observer that religious education should be provided to every school child irrespective of his faith.

No future citizen with decent attitudes can be moulded without a sound practical religious knowledge in the country.

That is why the NWP-PC too decided to ban private tuition on Sunday mornings said the NWP-PC Chief Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara.
