Etisalat launches 'MyMediccom'

From left: Acting Chief Executive Officer, Etisalat Lanka, Wail Salaman, Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena and Chairman, Mediccom Group, Dr. Lohitha Samarawickrema at the launch of ‘MyMediccom.’

Etisalat Lanka, Mediccom and the Health Ministry recently launched a joint initiative to enable the public to locate prescription and non-prescription medicine through their mobile phones.

By dialling the USSD code #336#, Etisalat customers could retrieve information on where a particular prescription drug is available for purchase and a hotline to get further advice.

The 'MyMediccom' platform is the first of its kind in Sri Lanka, and is another endeavour by Etisalat to provide added convenience to customers.

While the mobile telecom company is the technology platform provider, Mediccom, a pharmaceutical network leader in Sri Lanka, is the information provider.

Plans are under way to expand the platform to enable customers to additionally check retail prices of prescription medicine.
