No Govt permits for casino operators
The Government has not issued a single licence to
casino operators. All licences were given during the UNP regime and
casino operators use these licenses run their business and gambling,
Deputy Investment Promotion Minister Faizer Mustapha said. The
Government has increased the casino tax from one million rupees to Rs.
100 million.

UNP’s Leadership Council chairman Karu Jayasuriya has
been removed from the R. Premadasa Commemoration Committee and the
organisers have decided not to invite Karu for any of its functions in
future. Karu served in the committee since the LTTE assassinated
President R. Premadasa on May 1, 1993.

Fifteenth World Conference on Youth at Magampura
