Thousand teachers for Dhamma education

Plans are afoot to recruit one thousand teacher assistants to teach Buddhism in schools within the next two months. These teacher assistants would be selected at an open competitive examination and also those who have passed the Dharmacharya Examination - 2013 can apply for these teaching posts. Applications would be called for at provincial level and these teachers selected can teach at Sunday Dhamma schools too while they serve in government schools.

"The Ministry of Education will offer such teaching posts to the candidates of other faiths too in the future to teach their religions as this program is of vital importance to crate a morally - developed society for the future as per the concept under the Mahinda Chintanaya development policy," said the Chief Advisor of Kurunegala District, Dhamma Schools K. Dhammadassi Nayake Thera, at a meeting of Dhamma School heads of the NWP recently at Bingiriya MMV in Kurunegala.
