Thirteen-year-old Nithmi Senuri Ganegama of 226, Janapriya Mawatha,
Koralawella, Moratuwa diagnosed with scoliosis of the spine, has been
advised to undergo surgery.
The cost of the surgery which has to be performed at Chennai Appolo
Hospital would be around Rs. 3,000,000.
The girl's parents appeal to the public to contribute to this cause

MICH Awards Day on April 30
The biennial Awards Day of the MICH Technical Training Institute of
the Moors' Islamic Cultural Home will be held on Wednesday April 30 at
4.30 p.m. at the MICH, "Pasha Villa", Dematagoda Road, Colombo 9 under
the patronage of Deputy Minister of External Affairs Neomal Perera.
President, MICH and former CMC Special Commissioner, Omar Kamil will
preside over the ceremony.
Estate staffs' May Day in Matara
The Ceylon Estates Staffs' Union will celebrate its May Day rally in
Matara town.
The members who are scheduled to assemble at the Matara-Tangalle
Road (Beach Road) near Mayura Hotel, will proceed in a procession
along Galle Road via Hakmana Road to the Co-operative Building hall
(Opposite the railway station). The following leaders, President,
Dhammika Jayawardena, Deputy President, S.S. Jeyakumar Vice President,
D.M. Piyathilake and Chathura Samarasinghe, Treasurer, Robert Francis
and the General Secretary, Kingsley R Robert will address the rally.
The Union which has been in existence for the past 93 years is the
oldest trade union in Sri Lanka, which represents the majority of the
plantations staff.
Jaya pirith pinkama
Jaya pirith pinkama organised by the Ministry of Defence and Urban
Development for the 7th consecutive year will be held on May 3 at 5.00
p.m. at the BMICH, Colombo.
Four thousand members of the venerable Maha Sangha will participate
at the ceremony from different parts of the country.
Hanthanata Payana Sanda in Colombo on May 18
Hanthanata Payana Sanda, a musical event featuring Visharada
Amarasiri Peiris, one of the most popular maestros in local classical
music, will unfold for the first time in Colombo at the Musaeus College
Auditorium on May 18 at 6.30 p.m. Amarasiri Peiris fans will be pleased
to hear that the maestro of the violin himself will perform live at the
solo concert.
Rohana Weerasinghe will lead the backing orchestra while Wasantha
Rohana will be the compere. The event is in aid of funds for charity
