The new wellness resort of the Sri Lanka Army ‘Abhimansala – 3’ was
open by President Mahinda Rajapaksa on April 25 at Pangolla.
Built by the funds raised through the ‘Brave Hearts’ project of the
Army Seva Vanitha Unit will provide lifelong care of 50 more dependent
War Heroes residing in the North-Western Province. Lying in a 10 - acre
land on the banks of the ‘Deduru Oya’ and overlooking the Bathalagoda
Lake, the project was completed within few months.
The state-of-the-art complex, is equipped with eight Villas, three
cottages, hydrotherapy and physiotherapy facilities, medical ward,
swimming pool, gymnasium, medical laboratory, dining hall, kitchen,
indigenous medicine unit, residential quarters for staff, managed by a
medical team.
Construction of the ‘Abhimansala – 3’ cost Rs. 250 million which is
less than what was originally estimated, due to free expertise and
labour provided by Army Engineers and well-wishers. This healing centre
also offers facilities to their next of kin to visit the inmates and
spend some time with them on rotational basis.
