Drunken drivers in hot water

During the New year festive season 2014, 15 drivers of passenger – buses who were under the influence of liquor have been nabbed by the police Department from various parts of the country. Their driving licences would be cancelled and legal measures would be taken in the future, said a senior SP in Kurunegala to Sunday Observer” recently.

He said that the SSP Ajith Rohana, the police media spokesperson has confirmed this and a team of 175 well-trained police personnel has been deployed to look for drunken drivers in Kurunegala and Puttalam Districts of the NWP these days as these irresponsible drivers have caused a highest number of fatal road accidents and deaths during past few years in the country, the Kurunegala SSP said.
