Hussain (139 not out) saves England Under-17 from certain defeat

Mosun Hussain's unbeaten hundred frustrated Sri Lanka Under-17 as
England Under-17 managed to save the three-day game at Colts grounds,
Havelock Park yesterday.
Hussain defied the Sri Lnakan attack in his innings spanning 275
deliveries. He put on an invaluable 116-run stand for the third wicket
with skipper Haseeb Hameed after they lost the second wicket at 23.
Hussain earned the man-of-the-match award for his gallant effort. The
Yorkshire Under-17 player, struck 17 fours and the solitary six of the
innings. The elegant right hander gave a pleasing batting display,
hitting the ball along the ground.
Captain Hameed, who made a sedate 66 runs in 189 balls, smashed eight
fours before he was caught by Vanindu Hasaranga off Ranveen Sayer. Right
arm off spinner Sayer took three wickets for 66 runs bowling 28 overs
yesterday.
Sri Lanka Under-17 were heading for an easy win on Friday after they
dismissed visitors for 79 runs and forced them to follow on removing
opener Joe Weatherly for naught overnight.
