Samith cracks 124 for John Keells

John Keells 'B' owe their victory to their versatile all-rounder, Samith Fernando, who scored a fire cracker, unbeaten century (124 not out in 54 balls inclusive of 12 sixes and six fours) which propelled John Keells, batting first to finish with a daunting 226 for 6 in 20 overs.

Assetline chased down a victory target 227 runs in 20 overs (RPO 11.35) with a hurricane partnership of 95 runs for the fifth wicket in 43 balls via Aruna Perusinghe (80 in 34 balls with 10 sixes and 3 fours) and Manjula Gannille (49 not out in 31 balls with two sixes and six fours) Assetline needed three runs to win in the last over bowled by JanodayaSriyapala for the first time in the match. Sriyapala held his nerve, giving away two runs and bagging a wicket in the process to hand over John Keells a heart stopping one run win.

The other centurion for the day was LB Finance "B" skipper, Lakshan Rodrigo who scored a sparkling 113 in 58 balls inclusive of 6 sixes and 15 fours against Union Bank. LB Finance won the match by a massive margin of 112 runs.

Sameera Sandaruwan from Peoples Leasing Co took the bowling spotlight, when he bamboozled Standard Chartered Bank with figures of 4-1-18-6; PLC, thus won by 76 runs.

Jason Perera hit a swashbuckling 73 in 40 balls, inclusive of five sixes and five fours to spearhead Commercial Leasing Co. to a close 05 wicket win with five balls to spare over HNB 'B'.

John Keells Group 'B' will meet People's Leasing and Finance;and Commercial Leasing Co. will meet LB Finance 'B' in the Semi Finals.

Match Results - quarter finals:

MCA - Morning - first quarter final: John Keells "B" beat Assetline Group by 1 run.

MCA - Afternoon - second quarter final: Peoples Leasing and Finance PLC beat Standard Charted Bank by 76 runs.

Thurstan - Morning - third quarter final: Commercial Leasing beat HNB 'B' by 5 wickets (match reduced to 19 overs-a-side, due to wet ground conditions).

Thurstan - Afternoon - fourth quarter final: LB Finance 'B' beat Union Bank by 112 runs.
