Bens enter finals of Shakespeare Drama competition

Performing an extract from "Richard the III", St. Benedict's College, Colombo 13 qualified to compete in the boys' finals of the Inter Schools Shakespeare Drama Competition 2014 at the Lionel Wendt Theatre.

The competition held for the 41st year, organised by the Rotary Club of Colombo and the Central YMCA Colombo attracted 17 leading boys' schools from the Island. The Benedictines entered the finals by outshining leading schools such as St. Joseph's College, St. Peter's College, St. Thomas' College, Mt Lavinia and Royal College, Colombo.

Sharlon Benedict of St. Benedict's College was adjudged the Best Actor All-Island for his portrayal of Richard.


Nattukkari at the Punchi Theatre

Namel Weeramuni's "theatre at its best" hailed production of Nattukkari will go on the boards at the Punchi Theatre on September 26 at 6.45 p.m. The show is organised by the Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers Transmission Operation and Maintenance branch to raise funds for a serious operation of one of their colleagues, E.M.P Abeywickrama.

Mihira Sirithilaka's Ko Kukko will be staged at the Namel-Malini Punchi Theatre, Colombo 8 on September 25 at 3.30 p.m. and 6.45 p.m.

Chamila Priyanka's Meya Thuvakkuvak Nove will be staged at the Namel-Malini Punchi Theatre, Colombo 8 on September 27 at 3.30 p.m. and 6.45 p.m.


Subha

Kanchuka Dharmasiri's Subha will be staged at the Namel-Malini Pinchi Theatre, Colombo 8 today at 3.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.


‘First Art’ exhibition in Kegalle

The ‘First Art’ exhibition will be held from September 27 to October 1 at the Town Hall, Kegalle. There will be 500 exhibits.


CICADA at Mount Lavinia Hotel

The NaTanda Dance Theatre of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Mount Lavinia Hotel and the Germany Embassy of Colombo will present CICADA a contemporary dance performance choreographed by Kapila Palihawadana on October 7 at 7.30 p.m. at the Mount Lavinia Hotel. CICADA is a unique experience of innovative dance, creativity and vivid expressions showcasing Sri Lankan talent. NaTanda's choreographed style infuses traditional Kandyan dance, ballet, Yoga and Bharatha Natyam.
