Lankan blackmails girlfriend with naked photos

A Sri Lankan swimming instructor demanded his former Indian girlfriend to pay him Dh10,000 after she broke the relationship with him but when she failed to pay the full amount, he sent her naked photos to her family.

MA, 23, told Dubai Police that her ex-lover AB, 34, had taken photos of her in the nude via his mobile phone, and sent them to her uncle and sister via the Facebook when she decided to broke her relationship with him.

To take revenge he told her family that he is in love with her and she too wants to marry him.

"I told him that I do not want to continue my relationship with him and that if he doesn't stop, I will tell my uncle to lodge a complaint against him," she told investigators.

The complainant said that she had paid the accused Dh2,000 with a promise to delete her photos and also not to reveal to her parents their relationship. However, when she failed to pay him the balance Dh8,000, he sent seven of her naked photos to her uncle and sister.

Police arrested AB and retrieved the complainant's photos from his mobile phone.

The Lankan swimming instructor is being prosecuted for unlawfully logging into a private information using the internet, posting and distributing immoral material and for blackmailing the victim.
