Human-elephant conflict continues

The government has made financial provision to minimise the human-elephant conflict in the Kurunegala District.

It was however revealed at the district-coordinating Committee meeting held recently that no steps have been taken to avert the damage caused by the marauding wild jumbos.

Severe damage caused to the properties in Galgamuwa, Kahalla and Pallekele areas.

Conservation officials attributed inaction on the part of the local authorities to take meaningful action to minimise the threat to the helpless people.
