Farmers sell 1.6m kilos of potatoes
Co-operatives and Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando said that
1.6 million kilos of potatoes have been already purchased from farmers.
Sathosa has allocated Rs. 120.4 million for the purchase. Sathosa has
also bought over five lakhs of kgs of potatoes from Agrarian Service
Centres through the District Secretariats.
A program to purchase one kilo of big onions at Rs. 60 has also been
launched in the Matara district.
The Government will buy potatoes at the stipulated price from
farmers.
