More accidents on Kurunegala - Dambulla main road

There were 126 road accidents on the Gokarella police area along Kurunegala Dambulle main road within the past eight months, resulting in 16 deaths.

The number of persons severely injured in these accidents was 308.

The drivers who were driving under the influence of liquor were taken into custody and produced in court.

The police has taken steps to conduct a series of awareness programs to make the drivers aware of road safety.

The police said that police alone cannot minimise accidents, we need the co-orporation of the public and voluntary organizations in this connections.
