Sportsman D.M. Dharmatilake helped Dharmaraja a great deal

A great sportman of the Past... D.M. Dharmatilake - a old boy of
Dharmaraja College, Kandy has excelled both in sports and in the
Academic fields. As a student, he represented Dharmaraja at Cricket,
Football and Hockey.

In cricket, it was under P.B. Munasinghe and S.J. Munasinghe he
learnt cricket in the early 1950s. In soccer, he played as right-half
and under M.T.A. Oszen. The later on, Dharmatilake led the school hockey
team to emerge champions in the Kandy District Tournament.
Besides sports, Dharmatilake was in the College Cadet Platoon and was
a prefect of the college.
After his school days, Dharmatilake entered the University in 1952
and continued with his hockey. From the University, he passed out well
and occupied many Administrative positions in the Health Service and was
also Administrative Services (Marketing) in the Health Services and was
also Additional Secretary of University Grants Commission and finally he
was General Manager (Administrative) of Ceylon Government Railway.
Although he occupied many top-ranking positions in the outside world,
he never lost touch with the affairs of his old school-Dharmaraja
College. After his career in the University, he joined the staff of
Dharmaraja College and helped a great deal in the sports activities,
especially cricket and hockey.
