Sajin reminds Galle tuition masters of terrorism

The youth of this country are reaping the benefits of peace and they have no hindrance in continuing their education because President Mahinda Rajapaksa eliminated LTTE terrorism, which once terrified a whole country and its people of different ethnicities, External Affairs Monitoring MP Sajin De Vaas Gunawardena said addressing a large gathering of Galle district tuition masters recently.

He said the education sector of the country flourished as a result and youth of this country have been offered many avenues to pursue not just basic education but secondary and even tertiary education in numerous disciplines due to the freedom ushered in by the elimination of terrorism.

Reminding the hardships faced by the students and teachers including tuition masters during that period, the Monitoring MP said this is a memory that no one should ever forget.

"Unfortunately various forces want to erase what used to be our most dreaded memories. The tuition masters are a group closest to the youth of this country. With the tough competition in the education sector, they have become an indispensable social group within our society." He said they must play a role in this crucial phase to educate the youth of this country as to how the country and its people suffered at the hands of the terrorists and why we should not allow that dark era to engulf the country again.
