A Michigan homeless man reportedly stole an unattended ambulance to
drive to a topless bar.
According to The Oakland Press, an unidentified 51-year-old man came
across the unlocked ambulance at a Pontiac hospital Sunday night after
two EMTs had rushed a patient into the building. The EMTs had left the
keys in the ignition and the man drove off according to the Oakland
County Sheriff's Office."They came back outside and their rig was gone,"
Undersheriff Michael McCabe told the Oakland Press.
According to the report, one of the EMT's cell phones was in the
ambulance and police were able to track it down in Sterling Heights.
"They asked him what was going on and he said 'I'm going to the Booby
Trap to see a dancer,'" McCabe told the Press, referring to a former
topless bar in Detroit that is now closed.
According to the Press report, officials said the suspect has mental
health issues and has had previous interactions with the police.
He is expected to be arraigned this week on car theft charges. |
