Eclectic blend

Laksala, set up in 1962, is the only State-owned gift and souvenir boutique in the country. Over the years, Laksala witnessed numerous changes with an ever-growing list of products for sale. Today, Laksala operates 13 branches islandwide and offers the widest variety of Sri Lankan products at reasonable prices. Most importantly, Laksala enables the numerous industries that supply goods to it to stay profitable. There is an eclectic blend of items ranging from selections of beautifully packaged tea, spices and colourful batikware to an elaborate collection of art and craft and a collection of traditional Sri Lankan gems and jewellery. Pakistan High Commissioner Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Qasim Qureshi and his wife visited Laksala recently. Here the High Commissioner takes a close look at a bag shown to him by New Product Development Consultant Indira Malwatte.
