We need more entrepreneurs!
Less than 4 percent of Lankans own businesses -
Sri Lanka's woefully inadequate entrepreneurship
is a barrier to economic growth, said a senior lecturer on business
economics at the University of Colombo. He said that
entrepreneurship building in Sri Lanka is astonishingly low compared
to many developing countries in the region which have accelerated
economic growth over the years.
'Lanka should exploit niche markets'
Sri Lanka's exporters eagerly await the
regaining of GSP+ to boost volumes and revenue, capitalising on

but other trade concessions from USA, Japan and other countries as
well," Chairman, Sri Lanka Apparel Sourcing Association, Anil
Wettewa told the annual general meeting of the Sri Lanka Apparel
Sourcing Association in Colombo recently.
GSP Plus reinstatement:
Commitment to conventions, a key factor- Experts
Sri Lanka will regain access to the European
Union (EU) markets with zero duty concession under the Generalised
System of Preferences (GSP) Plus trade scheme according to trade
sector experts who expressed positive sentiments last week at a
trade discussion on the reinstatement of the benefit to Sri Lanka by
BoC to conduct special audits

'Sustainability vital for business development'

projects, Managing Director and CEO, N'able (Pvt) Ltd, Peter de
Almeida told the Business and Technology Conference 2015.
