The Government will receive this week the Police
Criminal Investigations Department report on the probe into the arms
deals and high seas military venture scandal involving the secretive
Avant Garde Security Services and Rakna Arakshaka Lanka that may
have cost the government billion-rupee losses as well as risked
breaches in the global counter-terrorism effort.

PMB owes Rs. 6,535m to four banks
The third report of the Committee on Public
Enterprises (COPE) tabled in Parliament by its Chairman D.E.W.
Gunasekara has revealed that the Paddy Marketing Board (PMB) has to
pay Rs.6,535 million to the Bank of Ceylon, People’s Bank, National
Savings Bank and the Regional Savings Bank for the loans taken.

The Most Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakkhitha Maha
Nayaka Thera of the Asgiriya Chapter passed away at a private
hospital in Singapore on Wednesday. He was 85 years and was ailing
for some time. Born in 1930 to G.M. Punchi Bandara Nilame and
Jayasundara Mudiyanselage Muthu Manike at Udugama in the Kurunegala

30 Lankans still stranded in war-ravaged Yemen
Nearly 30 Sri Lankans are still stranded in war
ravaged Yemen, Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau (SLBFE) Deputy
General Manager and spokesperson Mangala Randeniya said. The
Government has so far evacuated 50 Lankans from the Yemeni capital
Sanaa and provincial Capital Mukallah.
