AVIC is a State-owned mega incorporation administrated by the Chinese Government.

Scan Engineering is the distributor of ThyssenKrupp Elevators (German) which counts 140 years' experience in vertical and horizontal transportation technology in Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

Scan Engineering will supply, install, test, commission and maintain the complete systems for Astoria project, a company press release said.

The condominium will have four towers each with 42 floors featuring 602 luxury apartments and house 2,000 people.

ThyssenKrupp Elevator will manufacture and supply 16 elevators and two outdoor escalators for the project. The high speed tower-elevators will reach a top speed of 3.5 metres per second making them some of the fastest elevators in Sri Lanka.

ThyssenKrupp's product range includes elevators (machine room type and machine room-less), escalators, moving walks and airplane passenger boarding bridges, according to the release.

Scan Engineering with 21 years' experience as a mechanical engineering, ventilation and air-conditioning company has three major divisions and also represents Daikin air-conditioners (Japan) as a dealer, Goss International (USA) as exclusive distributor, for its high speed newspaper printing presses and Ferag (Switzerland) as an exclusive distributor for post-press and mail room solutions. Its clients include Havelock City, Marriott Resort and Spa, Ozo Kandy, Amari Resorts, Damro, Urban Development Authority, ExpoLanka, Dilmah, Zam Gems and Sampath Bank.

Director, Business Development, Scan Engineering, Pavithra Abeynayake said the company has expanded its product portfolio by engaging with ThyssenKrupp, a Fortune 500 German conglomerate.

"We cater to the needs of the construction industry, particularly, the more demanding buildings which are taller and need aerodynamic high speed elevators.

ThyssenKrupp Elevator is at an advantage when the project's needs are complex," he said.

ThyssenKrupp Elevators have been installed in many airports such as Dubai, Qatar, Delhi, Toronto, Madrid and Shanghai.
