Police yesterday recovered the T56 weapon and five revolvers,
reportedly stolen from the Laggala police station on Thursday (April
14) morning, from a temple premises in Laggala, yesterday (April 16)
morning, Police Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said. According to
sources, the police found the weapons near the water tank of the
Wellewela,
The Constitutional Council (CC) will meet tomorrow (April 18) and
may decide on appointing a new IGP. According to informed sources,
the names of Senior DIGs Pujith Jayasundara, S. M. Wickramasinghe
and Chandana Wickramaratne have been nominated to the Council by
President Maithripala Sirisena.
Removal of unexploded underwater ordnance:
A twenty-member Sri Lanka Navy diving squad is undergoing diving
training with the US Navy sailors from the Explosive Ordinance
Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 5 in Guam. Navy divers were being
trained to acquire skills and knowledge to remove unexploded
underwater ordnances left by the LTTE in tanks and lagoons in the
North and the East.

Recruitment agents behind the scam:
Incidents of human smuggling in Sri Lanka took a new dimension, with
the detection of three women who attempted to leave the country
disguised as members of the Salvation Army. The culprit behind the
scam is allegedly an unscrupulous labour recruitment sub agent, who
is still at large.
