Sangakkara’s 83 in vain as Surrey lose to Notts
Former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara hit a valiant 83 off 102
balls with 13 fours and one six but Surrey lost their county
championship division I match to Nottinghamshire by three wickets at
Trent Bridge. Surrey were forced to follow-on after being dismissed for
225 in their first innings in reply to Nottinghamshire’s 446 and made a
bold reply in the second to total 389 thanks largely to a second wicket
partnership of 142 between Arun Harinath (137) and Sangakkara. But
Nottinghamshire left with 172 for victory recovered from a middle order
wobble to squeeze through by three wickets.
