Sun Pharma Industries of India and Harcourts (Pvt) Limited teamed up
to market Sun Pharma products in Sri Lanka in 1987.
"Today Sun Pharmaceutical Industries have attained the position of
the largest Indian company in the US Generics space and the largest
pharma company in India in chronic therapy", a spokesman for Harcourts
said.
Steps taken in 1987 in international marketing have become giant
strides across the global pharmaceutical market for Sun Pharma with an
annual turnover exceeding 70,000 m Indian rupees. Sun Pharma was the
first company whose pharmaceuticals Harcourts marketed in Sri Lanka in
1987.
"Today Harcourts stands as a diversified multi-disciplinary business
group with interest in pharmaceutical marketing, cosmetics and personal
care products, drug retailing with a chain of pharmacies, sports and
fitness nutrition, and few other minor interests like Harcourts Homes,"
the spokesman said.
The Chairman of Harcourts, Ahamed Rheyas, cited Sun Pharma as the
"jewel in the Crown" for Harcourts.
