Global commerce quiz on December 12

The winners and defending champions of the Governor's Challenge Trophy Quiz for Global Commerce 2011, Seylan Bank PLC, handed over the trophy to the Central Bank Governor, Ajith Nivard Cabraal as the 2012 event will be held on December 12 at the Taj Samudra.

The defending champions Seylan Bank will compete with around 40 teams at the quiz program which had foreign Central Bank teams participating in 2011. This year too, the public sector, private sector, individual and schools will take part in the quiz program which will be conducted by the International Quizzing Association Sri Lanka branch (IQASL) on behalf of the organising body, Shippers' Academy Colombo (SAC).

The quiz program highlights the importance of global commerce and related services.

Sri Lanka emerging as a global trading, logistics, shipping, aviation, knowledge and a financial hub will have to improve its skills and knowledge base. The CBSL trophy is a symbol of knowledge development among the corporate and public sector to cater to the future service demands of global commerce.

The quiz will cover global commerce and related service sector questions and have an overall prize money and other gifts worth nearly half a million rupees making it one of the best rewarded quizzes in the country.
